In Memoriam

'It is with a heavy heart that I take up my pen and write . . . .'

Watson pens these grief-stricken words in the opening lines of The Adventure of the Final Problem. He has lost his best friend, and the tragedy of this untimely death brings forth this homage to one who was;

'Him whom I shall ever regard as the best and wisest man I have ever known.'

The world lost a gifted, charismatic actor on September 12, 1995, when Jeremy Brett died. He will be remembered by many as the defining talent for the consummate Sherlock Holmes of our time. By those who knew him, he will be remembered as a generous friend, a talented professional, a dynamic comet who flared out of this world all too soon.

'Good-night sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.'

Jeremy Brett
